Following a tradition of Excellence, the tiny
community of Taloyoak high above the Artic Circle
in the Boothia Peninsula has a population of
less than 750 persons.
From
this highly artistic community comes a strong
group of women who take great pride in creating
products based on ancient Inuit traditions.
This
lovely lady is called a TEA DOLL. Her face is
made of seal skin leather which has been dyed
with an Inuit tea. The fur is very soft and
the doll is totally hand stitched. This particular
Tea Doll was made by Elktog Iegalliyug of Taloyoak.
The price is set by the Canadian Government
( $250.00 ) to ensure that each Inuit Artist
receives a fair share from the sale of their
work
